PSSST!!!! Have you heard?
|
Admit it.
You were expecting "Green Acres", weren't you? Well, thankfully, we have a little more experience in all things "farmy". And, that's a good thing. But an even better thing is that we also have experience in sharing what we know with our farmstay guests! Like they say...KNOWLEDGE is POWER, and man, oh man, have we built up some farm muscles over the years! It would be a sure bet that, right about now, you are wondering, "Who are these people, and what on earth are they doing there on their little farm in West Tennessee?" Pull up a comfy chair, sit back, and we'll attempt to explain--as best we can--who we are and, yes, what on earth we're doing here! The "Nitty Gritty", part 1: In addition to being a row crop farm, Stillwaters Farm is a farmstay getaway, located on a 153+ acre farm near the little college town of Henderson, in the heart of West Tennessee. Two hours west of Nashville and one hour, 45 minutes east of Memphis, it is centrally located and perfect for daytrips to the majority of the state of Tennessee, eastern Arkansas, Western Kentucky, northern Mississippi, and northwestern Alabama. Our on-farm accommodations include The Cottage Farmstay, the Airstream Glamper, and the Avion Glamper. And, in keeping with the spirit of the "farmcation", we invite our guests to jump right in to the daily activities, hide away and rest, or daytrip to their heart's content. Whatever makes them happy makes us happy! We also have two accommodations just a short 2.75 mi drive into town--the Urban Properties. These accommodations work well for those who want to be right in the thick of Henderson things, and only 3 blocks from Freed Hardeman University! Urban Properties guests get full access to the farm, too, if they wish to visit. The "Nitty Gritty", part 2: We are family owned and operated, doing our part to preserve the spirit of the small American family farm while educating our guests on the important role agriculture plays in everyone's daily lives. We are on a mission to keep folks in touch with the real origins of their food supply--to know that milk does, indeed, come from a cow, that beef and poultry and pork and lamb, at one point or another, lived and breathed, that eggs really do come from a chicken's butt, and to know that the warmth of the earth and the gentle rains help usher forth the plants and plant products that we all consume. The "Nitty Gritty", part 3: The WINERY... Ahhhh, the winery... Forty Cannons Winery, located at the front of the farm, along with the Crow's Nest Tasting Room ( in the former Silo Boutique), are licensed and operational here at the farm! While we are approved, we are looking forward to our grand opening sometime between spring/summer in 2023, as we are currently in the process of making our very first vintage of wines for our visitors and guests. We have plans--oh, the plans--and it won't be the usual come-as-you-will in a crowded space. We'll be operating by appointment, assuring that each visitor gets the attention he or she deserves from us. Time to tour, time to taste, and time to purchase. With privacy and without the distraction of competing with others for our attention. We value our patrons, and we will show it. If you haven't already, consider signing up on the Forty Cannons website for our newsletter. It'll keep you posted on where we are in the process, what's new, and when the grand opening will be! Here at the farm, we strive to share our experiences with YOU, provide you the rest you've been needing, and be a safe place in a crazy world. Take a look around. Feel at home. Take your shoes off and relax while you browse our pages to get a real feel for what we’re all about! |
